Director's Statement: American poet Sharon Olds has challenged me since I first read her work as an undergraduate college student. "On the Subway" is included in the 20th century collection The Gold Cell, but Olds' words about race written a quarter of a century ago reads fresh today. In the 21st century many white Americans profess to be "woke", but there is still much work to do. Racism and racial inequality are lingering boils on the flesh of our nation that my humanity cannot ignore. The first step to solve a problem is for those contributing to be made aware of their role. I collaborated with my childhood friend and co-star Robert Lee Taylor to create this experimental short with hope that viewers would accept the challenge we offer: to embrace the opportunity to pause, consider the lens through which they view the world, and make thoughtful self-corrections as may be needed to put an end to racism once and for all.

Director's Statement: I love unicorns so much because they are magical and people need some magic in life. I was inspired by my aunt who is making movies, so I wanted to make a movie, too. We were talking about it for a long, long, long, LONG time. I finally made a movie about unicorns. Unicorns are very important to me.
